We are looking for a full-time dynamic individual who is ready to work in our fast-paced multi-specialty clinic. This position is located at our established outpatient behavioral health department in Puyallup. The Lead Insurance Verification Specialist is an integral part of our company and will not only be responsible for administrative duties, but crucial in establishing procedures, tracking performance, and maintaining efficient daily operations with insurance verification.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for providing oversight of the insurance verification processes and procedures
  • Gathers patient demographic and insurance information, coordinates prescriptions and referrals, prepares paper and electronic charts
  • Verifies patient insurance benefits and explains insurance billing requirements
  • Assists the billing office in the collection of patient copays and balances
  • Determines the nature of service for appropriate insurance verification
  • Coordinate with referral source payer and provider regarding specific requirements such as diagnosis or other information
  • Coordinates with patients, making appointments and explaining benefits
  • Data entry and uploading or creating patient files
  • Effective communication, both written and verbal communication
  • Effective management and supervision of insurance verification staff
  • Maintenance and development of skillset as it pertains to current role by participating in monthly meetings, attending conferences, in services, seminars and workshops
  • Other tasks or projects, as assigned, administrative duties as needed
  • Actively and positively participate as part of the Pacific Rehabilitation team, in alignment with our core values
  • Attention to detail, multitask, prioritize, work independently, and collaborate with patients and colleagues as part of a team

Qualified applicants will exhibit the following:

  • Intermediate to advanced skills in commercial insurance, and verification of benefits
  • Experience in behavioral health required
  • Knowledge of medical insurance terminology, medical benefits, and billing processes
  • Knowledge of different types of insurance coverage and policies
  • Familiarity with Online Insurance Verification, pre-certification, and pre-authorizations
  • Understanding of current procedure terminology (CPT) and ICD-10
  • Knowledge of HIPAA policies and procedures
  • Experience in customer service
  • Excellent typing and computer usage skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency
  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • EDUCATION: High School graduate with two years technical or 4 years college education
  • Must have 5 or more years Insurance Verification Experience
  • Experience in behavioral health required
  • Ability to relate with people of diverse backgrounds, provide excellent customer service and solutions to problems
  • Experience with patient assistance and government programs.
  • Ability to prioritize and perform several tasks together without losing concentration
  • Working knowledge of various insurance web-portals (eg: Onehealthport, Passport, Navi-Net etc.)
