Annual Base Salary* $158,184 to $192,275
*Competitive benefits offered for a total potential annual compensation package of $190,237 to $226,059
The Assistant Health Officer for Public Health Services will be responsible for the medical and public health oversight to various public health programs and will provide public health leadership in the community. This position may act in the absence of the Public Health Officer, and may supervise various Public Health Services Programs. This position is exempt from the San Joaquin County Civil Service System. Appointments to exempt positions are at-will and not governed by the Civil Service Rules.

Education, Experience, Certifications
Possession of an unrestricted physician and surgeon license to practice medicine in the state of California, issued by the Medical Board of California, at the time of hire, and a valid California driver’s license, is required.
Three years of practicing medicine as a licensed physician in fields related to public health practice, a master’s degree in Public Health, and board certification in General Preventive Medicine/Public Health is desirable.

A screening panel may be used to select the most qualified candidates to be considered for further participation in the selection process. Final candidates will be interviewed by the Public Health Officer, Public Health Director, and Agency Director. Finalists will be asked to complete a background investigation.
