This is a full-time, benefits eligible position working Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
The Director plans, implements and evaluates the administrative, supervisory and direct patient care activities for assigned program team in the Primary Care Network stand in conjunction with departmental and program leadership. Oversees the clinical operations, staff development, clinical competencies, scope of practice and regulatory compliance of professional and support staff in the Primary Care Network to ensure assessment, planning, provision and evaluation of patient care.
Partners with the Division and Section Chiefs of Ambulatory Pediatrics, the Ambulatory Pediatrics administrator and NCH/PAA leadership to set, and develop strategies and tactics to achieve, the operational, quality, financial and population health/wellness goals for the Primary Care Network.
The Director supports, communicates, implements, and enforces the philosophy, mission, values, standards, policies, and procedures of Nationwide Children's Hospital and the Ambulatory Care Services Division.
- Manages/oversees and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the department/division. Oversees the delivery of patient care by all professional and support staff within the department/division, assuring that performance standards for all staff are consistently met.
- Schedules resources to provide patient care in a cost effective and family-centered care manner.
- Develops, in conjunction with Planning/Business Development and Financial Services, operating and capital budgets. Monitors monthly/annual volumes, revenue and expenses for assigned clinics/programs. Analyzes, monitors, controls, and justifies allocations to ensure appropriate financial, human and material resources.
- Oversees the recruitment of highly talented team members. Ensures their effective orientation (role functions, policies and procedures and information systems) and on-going training and monitors/performs the evaluation and feedback processes. Oversees the ongoing development of staff (directs staff in identification of learning needs, provides appropriate resources to meet needs) and as necessary, monitors/performs fair and just disciplinary actions, developmental/behavioral/ performance action plans and/or termination of subordinate staff.
- Coordinates staff representation on departmental, hospital and community task forces, committees, quality teams and advisory groups. Serves as a representative to such groups when appropriate.
- Develops standardized operational policies and procedures and participates in the review of other Nationwide Children’s Hospital policies and procedures as appropriate.
- Promotes teamwork by building a team environment, supporting One Team initiatives and fostering cross functional collaboration.
- Works collaboratively with physician and nursing leadership (division/section chiefs, medical directors, nursing ambulatory executive) on all operational functions (clinical care, scheduling, billing, and productivity) within division.
- Responsible for assuring that assigned clinics/programs are compliant with all accrediting bodies such as TJC, CMS and ODH.
- Promotes continuous quality improvement by developing/revising standards of care, implementing effective corrective actions to resolve inconsistencies/inaccuracies, and ensuring adherence to quality, safety and compliance standards.
- Participates in the strategic planning process for assigned clinics/programs. This planning would include delivery of care, facilities, marketing, staffing, capital equipment needs and information services. Develops and implements plans to meet Nationwide Children's Hospital, divisional and programmatic goals.
- Facilitates change management, and leads major projects/initiatives such as operational restructuring, new services and/or clinic development, and major capital projects.
- Supports, oversees, and participates in clinical research projects within the division as appropriate.
- Collaborates with clinical faculty in planning and coordinating student clinical experiences.

Supervises: 100-150 professional and support staff
KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s Degree in nursing is required. MHA, MBA or Masters of Nursing is highly preferred. Work requires a knowledge equivalent to that obtained by completing a master’s degree program in nursing, hospital administration, business administration of closely related field.
- Five years of clinical experience in area of expertise desirable.
- Supervisory skills required to plan, assign, and evaluate the work of subordinate staff. Analytical skills required to oversee and organize the work of others, and to develop and administer sound policies, procedures, budgets, and multidisciplinary practices required.
- High level of initiative, self-direction, and accountability for actions required.
- Exceptional customer service, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal relationship skills required for interaction with contacts.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills required.
- Skill in promoting multidisciplinary collaboration; ability to act as a facilitator and change agent required.
- Strong organizational skills required to evaluate existing policies/procedures/standards, and to develop and implement enhancements and/or new systems required.
