Monterey County Health Department seeks experienced administrative professionals to fill vacancies for the position of Assistant Bureau Chief in the Behavioral Health and Public Health Bureaus. Both positions report to the Bureau Chiefs for the respective Bureaus and assists with the day-to-day operations of the Bureau.

Behavioral Health

The Assistant Bureau Chief will provide leadership, project management and direction to help achieve its long-term strategic goals and objectives. With over $60 million a year in contracted services, the Assistant Bureau Chief will ensure standardization in the contracting process and improve contract oversight. The individual holding this position will manage the agreements and associated deliverables, collaborate with Treatment Providers and provide oversight to the operational portion of Behavioral Health to achieve measurable outcomes.

Public Health

The Assistant Bureau Chief of Public Health reports to the Public Health Bureau Chief who also serves as the County Health Officer. The Assistant manages, directs and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Bureau. The position has responsibility for the Bureau's fiscal and administrative services including bureau budget and fiscal management, program contracts and grants management, and recruitment and Human Resources coordination. The position also manages several divisions within the Bureau.

The Assistant Bureau Chief engages community partners and assumes an active role in identifying opportunities to develop and implement projects that promote disease prevention and increase access to health care services. The position also monitors the quality of performance for Public Health Bureau processes, programs and services in order to effectively and efficiently improve the health of county residents.
