Position summary

Scope of Position: The Department of Human Resources supports the staff and management of The Ohio State University Medical Center. Services provided include: employee relations, recruitment, training, benefits administration/processing, payroll, compensation, etc. The staff of the Department of Human Resources is available to staff, faculty and administrators to provide assistance in all Human Resources matters. Human Resources staff facilitate the implementation of human resources policies and programs and the resolution of human resources related problems.

Position Summary: Under direct supervision, the HR Associate I provides administrative and customer service support to the Wexner Medical Center Human Resources Department and assists employees by answering general questions and inquiries in all areas of Human Resources. This position will support the Employment team and complete basic payroll duties. The HR Associate I schedules interviews, manages the completion of new hire paperwork, coordinates the verification of education, certification and licensure, and requests background checks. The HR Associate I will interpret general HR policies and will work with internal and external customers to answer basic human resources questions. Projects assigned are routine and require minimal problem resolution. Responds to basic, routine questions. Must learn job skills and become familiar with company policies to complete assignments. Limited understanding of the technical aspects of the job.

Education and experience

Associates degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business or related area; or equivalent combination of education and experience; 0 to 2 years of previous experience in human resources or customer service desired. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
