We believe mental & emotional health is an important part of overall health and wellness. Our behavioral health staff work closely with patients and their Primary Care Providers to help them meet their health care goals.

As the Behavioral Health Operations Manager, you would assure the effective and efficient operations of UCNW’s behavioral health program in alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, values, behavioral health (BH) scope of services, strategic plan and Institute for Health Care Improvement’s Triple Aim to improve the quality of care, improve patients’ experience of care and to control the costs of care. Responsibilities would include:

  • Prioritizing and achieving departmental goals, objectives and quality measures
  • Oversight of daily clinic operations including direct patient services, systems management, program development and administration-all with a focus on reducing barriers and variations in workflows, optimizing patient flow and staff workflows, and supporting providers
  • Ensuring implementation and compliance with all UCNW policies and procedures as well as applicable regulatory agencies and laws
  • Promoting a patient-centered, multi-disciplinary, team-based approach in serving our patients that achieves our quality standards, objectives and outcomes across providers

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field, preferred (additional experience may be considered in lieu of education)
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a health care setting, preferably in behavioral health
  • At least 3 years’ management experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of behavioral health and/or other health care clinic operations, patient flow, tracking, triage, health education and health care scheduling
  • Knowledge of Behavioral Health services and/or community health preferred
  • Excellent written communication skills including business writing; policies and procedures; report preparation; training and implementation plans; and project plans
  • Excellent verbal communication skills including public speaking; training; providing clear and concise direction; ability to develop positive and effective working relationships with peers, providers, leadership and other stakeholders; portraying a caring attitude
  • Strong leadership skills including professionalism; active listening; critical thinking; effective delegation; forging cooperative and constructive relationships with stakeholders and leadership; serving as an effective teacher/mentor/coach; building consensus and buy-in; being a team player and team builder; demonstrating stellar customer service skills; ability to plan, organize and direct effectively; ability to negotiate and enlist the cooperation and support of others; demonstrating agility to change; possessing strong strategic planning skills; demonstrating good analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; managing stress appropriately; being highly organized, managing time effectively and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to carry out supervisory responsibilities and oversight in accordance with UCNW’s policies and procedures and applicable state, federal, and local laws, including standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the health care clinic and as may be required by the Chief Operating Officer
  • Ability to act with integrity and compassion and foster a culture of mission, trust, respect and accountability for outcomes
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with medical, personnel and business information, as well as other confidential information, and conform to HIPAA regulations
  • Ability to keep customer service and the mission of the organization in mind when interacting with clients, co-workers, and others, promoting a positive image for UCNW and fostering an ethical work environment
  • Ability to multi-task, manage multiple priorities, work in a fast-paced environment and remain flexible in stressful conditions including frequent interruptions, public contact and occasional crisis situations.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to an integrated care delivery model
  • Ability to demonstrate cultural awareness and competency including the ability to understand, respond and work effectively and with sensitivity with staff and patients from diverse cultures and backgrounds-this includes special populations served by UCNW such as those defined by race, ethnicity, language, age, sex, sexual orientation, economic standing, disability, migrant and seasonal workers, homeless, people living with HIV/AIDS, and others
  • Knowledge and experience with continuous quality improvement processes such as Plan, Do Study, Act (PDSA) cycles
  • Proficient with computers & applicable software (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, Electronic Medical Records, PowerPoint and other applicable software)
  • Strong keyboarding skills
  • Ability to collaboratively and effectively work across multiple departments towards a common solution
  • Ability to travel for training, collaboration with other organizations, and to other areas of community as necessary
