Job Title: Branch Manager, RN

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Registered Nurse Manager is responsible for providing leadership, administering, planning and coordinating all clinical and administrative functions of the Branch to ensure compliance to the Clinic’s standard of practice in accordance with the mission, vision and values of the organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, which may require pushing, pulling and essentially utilizing a full range of body movement. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. Ability to reach, grasp, use fine finger movement and feel fine sensation to discern temperature, texture, size and shape. Good visual acuity, hand eye coordination, accurate color vision. Ability to speak and hear. Requires regular use of personal protective equipment.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Patient care environment with potential exposure to unpleasant odors, communicable diseases, medicinal preparations, potential exposure to toxic and hazardous drugs, electrical hazards and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Climate controlled, indoor environment. Occasional exposure to outdoor climate. Work may be stressful at times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list may not include all of the responsibilities assigned.)

  1. Provides leadership as a role model in developing and implementing the team concept of patient care delivery.
  2. Works closely with Supervisor’s, leads, and Director to oversee all clinical operations and operations of the Branch.
  3. Responsible for assessing the learning needs of the clinical staff, coordinate educational program with the clinical educator, and assist in training staff appropriately.
  4. Participates in the development and maintenance of nursing care standards. Monitor clinical staff for compliance to standards of care. Assists in resolving any regulatory compliance issues.
  5. Excellent knowledge of the different medical equipment in the clinical areas and able to troubleshoot and assist staff in resolving problems with these equipment.
  6. Manages and delegates staff work assignments, and/or delegates to Supervisor or lead.
  7. Establishes and implements clinical and administrative goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and systems.
  8. Develops guidelines for prioritizing work activities, evaluating effectiveness and modifying activities as necessary. Ensures that work areas are staffed appropriately, and/or delegates to Supervisor or lead.
  9. Establishes deadlines for work assignments and completion. Monitors work status and progress.
  10. Identifies, analyzes and resolves work problems.
  11. Assists in the recruiting, hiring, orientation, development and evaluation of staff.
  12. Approves employee timecards and reports leaves to Human Resources along with Supervisor.
  13. Prepares and administers annual performance evaluations to staff along with Supervisor.
  14. Approves office and other supply inventory.
  15. Ensures that patients are treated courteously by office staff per Sansum Clinic customer service protocols and other visitors are screened and properly directed per Sansum Clinic policy.
  16. Works with other Sansum Clinic staff and agencies to ensure efforts are coordinated and high quality patient care is provided.
  17. Participates in fiscal viability of Sansum Clinic by evaluating processes, looking at staffing and department purchases.
  18. Sets professional example for staff adhering to Sansum Clinic policies and procedures.
  19. Serves as a liaison and channel of communication between the Doctors and other medical and administrative staff.
  20. Resolves any medical-administrative problems and keeps lines of communication open with staff to ensure high employee morale and a professional healthful Branch atmosphere.
  21. Participates in departmental staff meetings as well as management meetings.
  22. Maintains strictest confidentiality in accordance with Sansum Clinic policy.
  23. Participates in department quality improvement activities, clinical safety, infection control and hazardous materials programs and activities.
  24. Attends Nurse Supervisor, MSC Supervisor, Management team, or any other committee meetings as needed.
  25. Adheres to HIPAA regulations.
  26. Performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS: Knowledge of clinical policies and procedures. Knowledge of clinical practices and medical terminology. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Ability to communicate well with patients, families, co-workers, physicians, other members of the healthcare team, etc. Ability to adapt to varied, age-specific and/or specialized groups. Ability to understand use, function, interpret, document, and keep records. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English. Ability to organize and prioritize work. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to reason and make sound judgments. Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers, management, patients, medical staff, and the public. Skill in accepting constructive criticism and giving suggestions in a professional manner.


  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Business or clinical concentration preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years previous experience in the management of a healthcare facility required supervising five (5) or more employees.
