Director, Clinical Informatics, Sioux Falls, SD
The Director of Clinical Informatics provides direction, oversight and leadership to the Clinical Informatics team across all regions within their assigned area of responsibility (Medical Centers, Clinics, and Network Facilities). Is an expert in the content and use of Sanford's Electronic Medical Record and other associated technology that enhances clinical practice. Ensures strong inter-regional team building and cross-functional team integration that promotes sharing of expertise to assure team's work meets the organizational needs of its leaders and end-users. Responsible to ensure staff resources and expertise are aligned to best meet organizational goals and oversees the utilization of the staff resources from both the market and enterprise perspective. Expected to develop close working relationships with operational leaders across the enterprise and within Information Technology, so that Clinical Informatics can best meet their needs. Provides insight and recommendations to multiple operational groups on options, implications and end-user impact. Oversees Clinical Optimization Committees to assure all markets are represented and participate in the approval / prioritization of their requests using a standardized, enterprise approach.
Influences key individuals inside and outside own group and earns their respect. Advises management on the opportunities and challenges associated with electronic medical records. Shapes the design and implementation of transition strategies and communications campaigns. Uses various techniques for information dissemination and information gathering. Adapts language, tone, structure, and level of detail to the needs of others. Compares planned budgets vs. actual expenditures, identifies, reports, and explains variances. Supervises budget management activities across multiple departments or functions. Ensures business priorities take first place and adjusts work effort accordingly. Monitors complex or unforeseen dependencies and responds accordingly. Champions a climate that supports and rewards excellent group and individual performance.

Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a nationally accredited nursing program required, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Master's degree preferred.
Minimum five years of related experience required. Experience in post acute/home services care setting required. Extensive background in a clinical leadership practice role. Strong background in healthcare helpful. Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multi-state licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
