Position description The chief nursing officer (CNO) – SW MN is a member of the Mayo Clinic senior administrative team and has accountability for the overall management of nursing practice in the SW MN region. The regional CNO provides oversight and direction to the nurse administrators in the region who in turn are accountable to and report directly to the regional CNO. The regional CNO works collaboratively with the regional CEO and regional chair of administration (RCA) and is jointly accountable for regional quality, safety, service and financial performance. The regional CNO participates in assessing the environment, forecasting trends, and collaborating with other regional leaders to ensure the successful development, implementation and operation of strategic directives. The regional CNO is accountable for measuring, assessing, and improving patient outcomes achieved through the development and implementation of nursing standards of clinical practice and clinical care. The regional CNO models the Mayo core values and leadership capabilities and provides leadership and mentorship in the development of Mayo administrators, professionals and leaders.

Qualifications Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate nursing program and a Master's Degree in Nursing, business, or health-related field. Minimum of three years' experience in nursing administration with line management responsibility.

Additional qualifications Previous experience in Nursing clinical practice role. Doctoral Degree – DNP or PhD in Nursing preferred. Demonstrates leadership attributes of people skills, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotional intelligence. Worked in more than one clinical setting. Demonstrated ability to establish a vision, set strategy, execute and deliver results. Demonstrated external exposure (through clinical experience, Board, professional organization). Demonstrated performance in complex situations with multi-dimensional factors. Demonstrated consistent high level of performance, including stretch roles. Experience in leading Nursing Department initiatives.

License or certification Current RN license or current license deemed acceptable by the applicable State Board of Nursing.
