Job Summary

SEARHC seeks to fill IT Clinical Informaticist role to support the use and adoption of electronic medical record applications and systems within the organization. Based either in Juneau or Sitka, Alaska, the IT Clinical Informaticist works collaboratively with all clinical staff to leverage technology to increase efficiency and improve outcomes in outpatient and inpatient settings. Works to support staff, projects, computers and computer applications.

SEARHC is an easy 2 ½ hour flight away from Seattle, WA and is the primary healthcare system throughout the communities in the scenic Inner Passage of Alaska. SEARHC staff enjoy the region’s temperature sweet spot between 20 degrees in winter and 70 degrees in summer.   • Drive the adoption, maintenance and efficient use of electronic health record (EHR) applications and systems through training and coaching of medical, nursing, pharmacy and other clinical and non-clinical staff within the patient care setting. Develop and maintain training content.
  • Remote travel to SEARHC sites for training, troubleshooting, and process enhancement.
  • Enhance and develop new EHR functionality and solutions in support of clinical processes and procedures. Act as EHR subject matter expertise and innovation in support of medical staff and improved patient outcomes.
  • Software and workflow related trouble-shooting with collaboration with technical personnel as needed. May be required for on-call rotation for night and weekend support of SEARHC clinical applications.
  • Other duties as assigned (for example, dental software and hardware support periodically as needed).


Five years minimum experience in medical setting; clinical experience preferred; 2 years with clinical information systems; MS Windows and other business applications/services knowledge and use; Minimum 1 year work experience with computer technology (configuration, installation, report generation); RN, psychology, health informatics license or certification desired; knowledge of scheduling, radiology, laboratory and document scanning systems; outpatient and inpatient best practices; clinical and information technology systems; Understanding of regulations: TJC, HIPAA, MACRA, CMS; superior customer service skills, written and oral; ability to travel for work to sites; ability to present topics, teach and coach staff.
