GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

This position requires to be onsite as a full time (1.0 FTE) employee working standard hours of Monday – Friday and will work not less than forty (40 per week) - MUST be a licensed mental health provider with children, adolescents and family experience. *** NOT REMOTE OR TELECOMMUTE POSITION ***

This position requires successful completion of a school-based background check through DHS and the FBI.

Also, requires availability to work in schools throughout Coos County and WCHC, depending on the needs of the program and appropriate year-round coverage during the summer, winter holidays and spring break.

Functions as a Child Therapist (CT) in a team and mission-based setting to provide therapeutic services for children, adolescents and their families/Guardians who are experiencing behavioral issues, family conflict, and/or mental health challenges. CT will build individual and community capacity in increasing health knowledge and self-efficacy to individuals from diverse cultural, racial, and economic backgrounds.

CT provides mental health services, incorporating evidence-based practices that focus on the strengths of children, adolescents, and families/guardians served, maintains required records, and works effectively with school and agency staff. Related tasks, including but not limited to ensuring efficient and effective workflow of patients, may consist of consultation, regarding diagnostic assessments, developing treatment plans and providing direct treatment services for children and adolescents experiencing primarily mental health problems, through individual, group, and family/guardian treatment intervention modalities. Demonstrated ability to assess patient needs, and make appropriate clinical diagnosis; to provide effective treatment services on an individual and group basis; to work effectively with community resources in coordinating services; to intervene in emergency situations; to problem solve and mediate conflicts; to accurately prepare and maintain patient records and related documentation and reports; to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; and to maintain confidentiality. This position may be asked to work at other clinic sites as needed.

Waterfall Clinic, Inc. dba Waterfall Community Health Center (WCHC) is an integrated patient-centered primary care clinic serving insured and uninsured children and adults with a special emphasis on care for persons who experience barriers to accessing care due to income, language, cultural and social barriers. This position will support mission and goal achievement, organizational quality and patient-centered medical home philosophy.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Personnel supervision is not a responsibility of this position.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Works under the direct supervision of the Behavioral Health Program Manager (BHPM). Exercises progressive levels of autonomy in day-to-day activities based on satisfactory job performance.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in counseling, medical social work or related field.
  • Maintain compliance with credentialing including active licensure as a clinician.
  • Ability to be credentialed with Medicaid, Medicare, private and other insurance within the scope of licensure.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience working in healthcare or similar setting as a behavioral and/or mental health provider, preferred.
  • Three (3) or more years’ experience with providing diagnostic assessment and therapy services to full range of individuals from youth through adulthood.
  • Experience in a mental health care setting and with low income population, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of social, emotional, and physical development issues regarding children and adolescents; of therapeutic interventions, treatment methods for children and adolescents experiencing mental health problems; and, of unique life stresses and circumstances facing adolescent.
  • Proven interpersonal skills and experience providing complex patient care support in a high-profile environment with tact and diplomacy.
  • Effective time management and project management skills, such as communication, delegation, prioritization, maintain a big picture of the organization outcomes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in a confidential environment to provide information and service to a wide range of internal and external contacts.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills to provide a wide range of complex and confidential care regarding highly sensitive matters.
  • Demonstrates required customer service and phone etiquette competencies.
  • Establish and maintain solid working relationships through communication, cooperation, and positive interactions with all patients, employees, staff, providers and vendors.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule when circumstances necessitate.
  • Ability to use a wide range of office machines including personal computers.
  • Demonstrate ability to learn and maintain appropriate technical skills to effectively support the electronic records system and/or other reporting platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Keyboarding at 25+ wpm and reporting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain confidentially – in accordance with WCHC policies and HIPAA regulations.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply Patient Centered Medical Home principles.
  • Valid Oregon Driver’s License.

LICENSURES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIREMENT:

  1. Unrestricted Oregon License and Board Certified to practice as it relates to Behavioral Health and/or Mental Health Provider (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, PsyD, or PhD), is required.
  2. Non-violent Crisis Intervention Comprehensive training class completed within 6 months of hire, and recertify prior to expiration date.
  3. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support Card (BLS) within 6 months of hire, and recertify prior to expiration date.
  4. Mandatory Trainings for Organization and Advanced Health compliance completed within 3 months of hire, no later than 6 months, and recertify prior to expiration date.
