Job Summary

The Revenue Manager is responsible for payer reimbursement related to commercial, government, and other third-party payer contracts, oversee and manage the filing of the annual Medicare Care Cost Report, monthly completion of the organization’s contractual reserve model, and staying current on all government regulatory changes and Federal and State proposals to change reimbursement methodologies and payment systems. The Revenue Manager will be the subject matter expert for all questions pertaining to payer reimbursement rules, regulations, and contracts. The Revenue Manager will also oversee and manage the hospital’s chargemaster and pricing strategy by recommending annual price adjustments to specific services in addition to managing all payor contracts.

Job Requirements
Knowledge of/Skill/Ability to:

  • In depth knowledge and understanding of Rural Health Clinic, Provider Based Clinics, and Critical Access Hospital government, commercial, and other third-party payer methodologies.
  • Understanding of how to accurately project annual revenue budgets and long-term revenue forecasts.
  • Knowledge and understanding of payer reimbursement methodologies and GAAP to ensure all Accounts Receivable reserve balances are properly stated.
  • Analyze and compare hospital prices to market competitors and other various outside factors.
  • Strong analytical quantitative skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to interpret complex data.
  • Ability to present to large groups.
  • The ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Self-starter, independent thinker, and collaborative team player.


Active CPA license preferred.

Education and/or Experience

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business discipline required. Master’s Degree preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities were acquired may be considered.

Five or more years of progressive, successful experience in health care finance or reimbursement is required, with at least two years of direct practical experience with Medicare Cost Report filings. A proven ability to analyze regulations, perform sophisticated data analysis on regulatory impacts, and present results to financial and operational leadership.

Physical Demands and Work Environment Conditions / ADA Compliance

This position involves long periods of standing walking, stooping, occasional carrying and lifting of lightweight materials (up to 30 pounds) sitting for extended periods of time. This position requires visual acuity and depth perception to recognize words and numbers, hand and finger dexterity, and hand/eye coordination to use a computer keyboard and other common office equipment.
