POSITION SUMMARY: This dynamic position provides broad support for the day-to-day marketing operations of the organization including internal and external communications, website and online communications, social media, marketing campaigns, market research and more. The right candidate will have strong interviewing, writing and editing skills to help tell the story of Mental Health Center of Denver through various communication tactics.

As a member of the Communications and Marketing team, the Multimedia Communications Strategist II will play an integral role in positioning and promoting the Mental Health Center of Denver’s voice through traditional and social channels. Working directly with the Director of Marketing and Communications, this position will ensure messages are consistent with the overall brand and meet organizational standards.

STARTING SALARY: $55,000 - $63,000/year

Working with minimal supervision, the Multimedia Communications Strategist II is responsible for supporting the Director of Marketing and Communications, Engagement & Communications Department, managing and implementing the marketing communications strategic plan.

  • Provide marketing support to clearly and visually articulate the Mental Health Center of Denver brand
  • Develop both written and video stories that are compelling and concise to articulate the brand as part of SEO content for internal and external audiences
  • Assist in planning, development and publication of internal and external communications (e.g., newsletters, brochures, website content, videos and presentations)
  • Write, edit and produce brochures, fliers, newsletters, website, social media, emails and other collateral materials
  • Provide digital marketing and creative support for events
  • Support marketing related communication needs of designated business groups and departments. Build relationships with key customers and provide consultation
  • Monitor and report analytics of marketing initiatives and make recommendations for improvement
  • Interface with vendors to coordinate timelines, delivery schedules and proof/approve materials;
  • Aid in development and management of editorial calendar, social media marketing, public relations initiatives and website maintenance
  • Develop and update marketing policies, procedures and standards
  • Contribute to an organizational culture of respect, hope and personal accountability regarding diversity and inclusiveness
  • Stay current with industry practices on digital marketing communications using knowledge to impact communication tactics
  • Depending on makeup, skills, and strengths of the team, this position may require graphic design skills in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Maintain a trauma informed environment of wellbeing.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, digital marketing, communication, journalism, or related field. A master’s degree in marketing, digital marketing, communication, journalism, video production, or related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 4 years of experience in a marketing, digital marketing, content creation or communications role. Experience in nonprofit, health care or human services setting preferred.


  • Knowledge or ability to learn and practice trauma informed principles and practices

  • Excellent storyteller and able to tell sensitive stories in a compelling way in print, video and online
  • Understanding of digital marketing, communication and branding and managing assets to brand standards
  • Experience in content development and dissemination across multiple platforms
  • Strong written and oral communication, editing and proofreading skills
  • Ability to develop compelling collateral materials and digital assets that are consistent with brand standards
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple priorities at any given point with competing deadlines
  • Creative and innovative thinker with the ability to generate ideas that inspire new directions
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with a broad group of stakeholders to foster trust and partnership
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive data
  • Ability to build meaningful partnerships with the people we serve, our colleagues, and our community in a multicultural setting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, WordPress, Google Analytics. Working knowledge of HTML, SEO
  • Adobe Creative Suite (graphics and video) a plus.
  • Experience using social media platforms, including campaigns and analytics

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for coordinating and supervising consultants.

MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT TO BE USED: Computers, calculators, fax machines, scanners, copiers, telephone and a variety of other office/clerical equipment.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. May require lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, the telephone and other office equipment.

TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS: Ability to give, receive and analyze information, formulate work plans, prepare written materials and articulate goals and action plans. Must understand people from all walks of life and be able to communicate effectively with them.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Requires occasional evening, weekend, or on-call hours. Position has flexibility to work remotely, or on-site at 4141 E Dickenson Place (Denver) 3+ days a week.
