The Director of Facilities Management has responsibility for the GRMC Facilities Department, Security & Environmental Health/Safety. He/she is responsible for the overall development, management, and performance of maintenance and operations, planning, design and construction, financial management, safety and security programs. S/He is responsible to assure compliance with TJC/CMS/ NMDOH and building codes.
Ensures compliance with hospital/facility policies and procedures and governmental and accreditation regulations.
Ensures Facility conformance to all applicable codes and standards including local and federal agencies as well as private certification organizations.
Develops and manages capital and operational budgets and negotiation of service agreements.
Develops and administers policies and procedures to manage the human resources of facilities management.
Oversees operations of the Facility Management team by: conducting Facility visits and meetings; ensuring that reports are delivered in a timely manner; providing a working environment that meets all Joint Commission Standards, OSHA guidelines, and other code and regulatory bodies as appropriate; and completing and maintaining all performance indicators at or above program targets.
Accountable for all elements of GRMC’s Environment of Care Programs and EOC Plan
Leads, conducts Environment of Care rounds across hospital and clinics including reporting on deficienices with actions completed and remediation plans. Responsible for all Enivorment of Care rounds and associated findings reports.
Coordinates budgets, verifies and promotes appropriate use of staff, materials, supplies and vendors. Inspects current records of all maintenance procedures to insure they are kept as required to meet all applicable codes and standards. Standardizes record keeping, cost effective measures, inventory control and standards of performance and productivity for self and staff to use time effectively and meet program requirements.
Meets all financial performance expectations of areas managed by: attaining all expense budgets and cost containment targets; ensuring that expenditure authority and level are adhered to; and forwarding, in a timely manner, all appropriate PO's, invoices and financial details to the appropriate sources. Monitors facility contract compliance and consolidates service contracts as appropriate.
Manages and oversees the recruitment, training and development of staff. This includes holding all necessary staff meetings; providing written measurable objectives; coordinating vacation, sick day's etc.; and performing annual performance evaluations.
Maintains positive working relationships and demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with physicians, patients, co-workers. Works collaboratively and supports efforts of team members. Provides professional team and personal growth that meets the needs of the customer and employees.
Networks with peers to gain innovative ideas and sourcing of information.
Plans, schedules and budgets for construction, repairs and renovations to the facility, ground and facility properties.
Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive data at all times.
Performs related work as required.
Bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, electrical engineering or related field preferred.
Successful documented experience in management of multiple departments within an acute care facility, preferred.
Experience in participating in ongoing preparation and maintenance of department activities for all regulatory agency compliance, including (but not limited to) federal, state, local, building, fire, Joint Commission, DOH, life safety and labor & industry regulations.
Proven knowledge of Emergency Management and Disaster Readiness required.
Has an understanding of HVAC, refrigeration, steam and hot water, medical gas, electrical distribution, emergency power, fire protection, plumbing, medical equipment, safety and security, elevators and pneumatic tube systems and grounds keeping.
CHFM certification preferred
Has effectively managed a department(s) and has a broad knowledge base of hospital facility budget and cost saving measures.
Has worked closely with administration in remodeling and renovating a healthcare facility.
