State of Reform, an HMA Company, is looking to fill the role of Health Policy Reporter/Analyst, and we'd be thrilled to hear from you if you're interested.

State of Reform covers state health care and health policy across fifteen states. We host virtual conferences and conversations to create "live journalism," giving senior health care executives and health policy leaders an opportunity to speak to the work they are doing to inform broader system reform.

Our focus is on policy analysis and market intelligence to the health care and human service sectors, ranging from Florida to Alaska, Hawaii to Maryland.

We provide this content where it works best for our information consumers, through multiple discrete channels: virtual conversations, virtual and in-person conferences, email newsletters, website news, web video, social media, and small run book publishing.

And, we would love to have you reach out if you're interested in joining the team!

Job Description and Responsibilities:

We're looking for someone who can find the important essence of a story, getting to the point with actionable information. Imagine you walk through the lobby of a skyscraper. On the way to the elevator, the CEO comes up to you and joins you in the elevator car.

"I'm going to a board meeting," she says. "What should I know about the latest in health policy in our state?"

You have 10 floors and 40 meters from the elevator to the board room to brief her.

That's what we're looking for you to write: well informed, concise, direct and informative.

You'll need some tech savvy, preferably with WordPress. Video production skills are a big plus. If you have social media, graphic design, or podcast production experience, that counts in your favor, too.

If you have experience in a legislative or political setting, that's a bonus. If you've covered state legislatures or city hall, that's good too!

We'll also have you engaged in identifying and recruiting speakers for our virtual conversations, as well.

Ideally, you'll also be a great writer or multi-media story teller. We'd like to have you working with us to share the stories and experiences of health reform, from COVID-19 to elections.

Here is some of what that looks like.

  • Writing 10-15 stories a week on health care and health policy across three or four states.
  • Working to support our "Virtual Conversations" in the states you cover

Joining a team of thirteen, many of which provide content

  • Working on graphic design, video or podcast production efforts
