Vice President of Sexual + Reproductive Health Programs


The VP of Sexual and Reproductive Health Programs leads strategic program development in all service areas, actively identifying and establishing partnerships, and managing the sexual and reproductive health programs and Essential Access staff and interns. Drive the growth of existing programs such as Essential Access Health’s Title X Family Planning Program in California and Hawaii, and the STI Prevention Center. Also responsible for expanding Essential Access Health’s reach, impact, and access to sexual and reproductive health care for all. The VP of Sexual and Reproductive Health Programs works in collaboration with other departments on cross-organizational initiatives and strategic planning and serves as a key member of the Senior Management Team.

This position will be operating on a remote hybrid schedule based out of the Los Angeles office.

  • Oversee the planning, monitoring, and growth of all community health programs and partnerships, including the Title X Family Planning Program in California and Hawaii, and the STI Prevention Center.
  • Advance and implement sustainable growth strategies for Essential Access Health’s family planning and prevention programs.
  • Identify, cultivate and implement new funding opportunities for Essential Access Health’s family and prevention programs.
  • Develop and oversee budgets for all family planning and prevention programs based on project goals and objectives; forecast project needs and track budget expenditures (together with respective directors and managers).
  • Provide high-level guidance and information to the Executive team, including regular reports and updates on progress toward meeting program goals.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local, state, and national partners to improve access to quality sexual and reproductive health care.
  • Work with the Executive team and others to maintain and grow current funding sources and to develop new funding strategies for existing and future programs.
  • Develop the necessary systems, processes and tools to support the facilitation, collection and sharing of knowledge that is generated by Essential Access Health family and prevention programs.
  • Ensure that key project outcomes are evaluated and leveraged for maximum organizational impact.
  • Contribute to the development and advancement of Essential Access Health’s proactive policy agenda to improve family planning and STI outcomes statewide.
  • Collaborate across programs and departments to integrate cross program activities.
  • Prepare reports for President/CEO, Board of Directors and funders as requested.
  • Supervise and coach department directors, empowering them to elevate their level of responsibility and performance.
  • Hire, train, and evaluate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job.

  • Master’s Degree in public health, public administration or equivalent experience
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of epidemiology and project administration, medical research
  • Knowledge of STIs, family planning and general reproductive health
  • Experience in program development, management, implementation and evaluation
  • Experience developing and tracking budgets
  • Experience in data analysis, report writing, fund development and oral presentations.
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Competence in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database management.
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a team setting
  • Excellent organizational skills and adept at working on multiple projects
  • Ability to develop effective administrative procedures


A current California Driver’s License, current registration and current automobile insurance coverage is required if you drive on company business.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear.
