Overview

The Mobile Outreach Mental Health Clinician is a masters level mental health professional who provides outreach and engagement activities to adults and children seen in the hospital's emergency department (ED) with probable mental health concerns. This position develops positive report with individuals and families in need, demonstrating a caring and empathic manner which assists in building trust and facilitating entry into needed treatment. This position works in the community, with Options personnel and community partners to engage adults, children and their families into needed mental health services. Utilizes Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT) in delivery of client services. Options provides on the job training and supervision for FIT.

Responsibilities

The Mobile Outreach Clinician provides outreach and engagement activities in the community for people seen in the emergency department (ED) with probable mental health concerns. These activities are designed to educate and support adults, youth and their families and assist with their engagement in treatment. The Mobile Outreach Clinician maintains contact with these individuals and families until they are able to engage in the needed services.

This position completes screenings, assessments and care coordination duties to assist clients in accessing treatment and other resources that reduce emergency room use. This position develops and maintains a good understanding of community resources and mental health treatment programs. Works independently in the community, representing the agency in a professional manner at all times. This position works as part of a multidisciplinary team of mental health and substance use treatment providers.

Qualifications

This position requires a Master's degree in a behavioral science, an understanding of co-occurring disorders, and related experience.

Experience with substance abuse treatment for dually diagnosed clients preferred.

Must be a QMHP on the Mental Health & Addictions Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO) registry.

OR

Must be registered as a licensure intern with the State of Oregon or be licensed in Oregon as an LMFT, LCSW, LPC or clinical Psychologist.

In order to avoid potential conflict of interest, applicants for this position cannot have received services from Options for Southern Oregon within the last 12 months.

Candidates must be able to use e-mail, compose documents, save and locate documents electronically, and learn to use our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Proficiency in Word and other MS Office applications preferred.

Must pass state-required background and DMV checks; possess a valid OR driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. Candidate must be able to work independently and flexibly, under general supervision.
