Scope of Position

Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center and James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC-James) cancer strategic plan includes an initiative to expand cancer care into new regional, national and international markets. The James Cancer Network (JCN) team is responsible for developing and implementing a network of community oncology affiliations that are critical for the sustained future success of the OSUCCC. The senior director for the JCN is responsible for implementing the component of the cancer strategic plan related to network affiliations. The James Cancer Network is designed to be a revenue producing entity for the OSUCCC-James and is meant to enhance the James’ community outreach as necessitated by the NCI Core Grant. Central to this plan are the efforts required to design and build an oncology network that contractually secures affiliate relationships and increases the quality of cancer care in the communities being served. The role develops, aligns, and operationalizes OSUCCC-James clinical, academic, and research activities to support the overall cancer strategic plan and goals initiatives through interdisciplinary collaboration.

Position Summary

Acts as the functional administrator for strategic, administrative, & clinical functions in collaboration with the academic and research arm for the OSUCCC-James to define and deploy cancer specific resources to JCN affiliates. Implements strategies to enhance local, regional, and national projects and programs for the OSUCCC-James through the cultivation of external opportunities and to build services and programs as components of the JCN. Collaborates with the medical director(s) and director of outreach and engagement to assure and effective referring physician relations program. Works in collaboration with OSUCCC-James marketing and communication department to develop and implement the appropriate communication strategies for the development of community oncology educational programs in the community and for the referring physician experience. Develops and coordinates quarterly and annual reports for the JCN. Establishes, builds and maintains professional and cooperative relationships with potential affiliates and business partners. Interacts with a variety of executive level health care and academic professionals. Directs the administrative functions for the network and members of the network including contracting, operations and consultative work. Serves as the direct supervisor for employees that work within the JCN and collaborates with outreach coordinators to assure positive experiences for referring physician who are interacting with the JCN and the OSUCCC-James.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate degree in Nursing, or Health Services Administration or related health care field. Professional certification preferred. Previous experience (3-5 years) with a focus on outpatient oncology setting required. Record of demonstrated experience and skills and at minimum of 3 - 5 years of related experience & 1- 4 years of leadership preferred.
