Position: Chief, Benefits Division
The salary range for this position is $12,131 to $14,453 per month.
DHCS’ purpose is to provide equitable access to quality health care leading to a healthy California for all. DHCS administers Medi-Cal—California’s Medicaid program—that provides comprehensive health care services at no or low cost for eligible individuals.
This position is eligible for telework from anywhere within California. This position is currently eligible for telework up to three days per week and is required to report in person a minimum of two days per week. This position may be eligible for telework up to five days a week, contingent on operational business needs. The selected candidate must reside in California, will be assigned to a DHCS office closest to their residence, and will be required to report to their assigned DHCS office and other locations as needed. Reimbursement for relocation expenses may be available for the selected candidate.

DHCS is seeking an experienced leader with knowledge of Medicaid, the state’s Medi-Cal program, and related health care delivery systems to fill the role of Chief, Benefits Division.
The Chief, Benefits Division, will:
- Develop, implement, and oversee medical coverage policies for health care services provided by Medi-Cal, which include both the fee-for-service and managed care delivery systems.
- Oversee several specialty programs within Health Care Benefits and Eligibility, including, but not limited to, Every Woman Counts, Prostate Cancer Treatment, and Hearing Aid Coverage for Children programs.
- Build collaborative working relationships with the DHCS Executive Staff, internal and external partners, and stakeholders, including but not limited to, the California Health and Human Services Agency, the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, members of the state Legislature, and other state, federal, and local representatives, advocates, and organizations.
