Nurse Practitioner – Public Health

Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH) is a valued and trusted resource, always working for a safer and healthier community. We have successfully operated two School-Based Health Centers (SBHC) in Jefferson County since 2009, helping to empower and educate youth in our community. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in the public health setting with our dedicated medical team. This position provides reproductive health services to persons of all ages at our main JCPH Community Clinic in Port Townsend, and provides quality comprehensive primary health care to children and youth in the School-Based Health Centers at Chimacum and Quilcene Schools. Our dynamic SBHC team is seeking a motivated team player with a health-oriented, family-centered approach. The selected candidate will engage in therapeutic relationships with students and their families, and encourage students to become active participants in their health care.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide high quality comprehensive health care to children and youth in the schools
  • Share in the responsibility of site administration with other members of the health care team
  • Provide comprehensive patient care and establish a family/school partnership to meet the needs of the students on an ongoing basis
  • Identify, diagnose and treat actual or potential health problems through case finding, health teaching, and health counseling
  • Provide reproductive health care at JCPH Community Clinic, including full range of birth control options to all genders

Qualifications include:

  • Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner licensed in Washington state (required)
  • Patient-centered, empathetic, trauma informed, engaging and efficient, with excellent active listening and communication skills
  • Outstanding clinical capabilities and judgement
  • Focused on collaborative team-based care
  • Independent thinker, able to manage SBHC administrative tasks and site
  • Proficient in EHR systems
  • Flexible
  • Comfortable receiving and providing constructive feedback
  • Engaged in learning and continuous quality improvement
  • Passionate about providing high quality comprehensive care to diverse adolescent and underserved residents in Jefferson county

A UFCW position, Grade 42, salary range $35.44-$42.13/hour, DOE. 32-35 hrs/wk, full benefits.

Requirements:

Master's degree (M.A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Washington State Driver's License. Washington State Board of Health License as Nurse Practitioner with prescription privileges. Employees in this position, according to the Medicaid Administrative Match Steering Committee, Washington State Association of Local Public Health Officers Questionnaire for Skilled Professional Medical Personnel, meet all the requirements for the Medicaid Administrative claiming program.
