Currently looking for a Full Time Manager, Nursing to work primarily Monday-Friday day shift at various centers based on company need.

Summary: Must be able to provide 24 hour accountability for ensuring high quality, cost effective services and efficient operations of the Nursing services unit by planning, organizing and directing the activities of employees and effectively utilizing all resources in the delivery of Nursing Services.

General Description: The Nursing Services unit provides a full range of exams and procedures to diagnose and treat patients. Nursing services must be provided in a timely, cost effective manner. Quality assurance using an evidence based practice is a major focus. The department has 5 units (number of locations), all of which may have different processes and procedures. The Nursing Services unit has 9.2 FTE’s and operates 10 hours per day 5 days per week.

  • Oversee Clinical Quality of all Nursing procedures
  • With over site by radiologist, establish and maintain protocols for all exams
  • Ensures that all protocols, policies, and procedures are communicated to all IICA sites
  • Ensure that IICA staff are trained to perform all according to appropriate protocols
  • Attends after hours sub-specialty section meetings appropriate to this modality
  • Prepare data and participate in discussion as appropriate
  • Develop department specific quality criteria and processes to measure compliance
    • Analyze quality assurance data and enact changes in service levels, procedure, and methods to take corrective action when indicated.
    • Perform quarterly Controlled substance/Medication Security Audits
  • Maintains standards required by The Joint Commission, Washington State Board of Nursing Practices and other appropriate regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee Operations in the Nursing Department where IICA has a Staffing and Management contract
  • Patient care
    • Ensure all patients receive quality care and service
  • Model customer service attitude
    • Maintain the ability to provide direct patient care in Nursing.
    • Investigate, document, and follow up all patient care incidents.
  • Works will Billing Department to ensure coding accuracy to maximize reimbursement
  • Works with Scheduling Department to establish scheduling guidelines
    • Pre, Intra, and Post-procedure preparations
    • Appropriate resources
    • Educate scheduling staff on appropriateness of exam per clinical indication
    • Monitoring volumes and scheduling backlogs
    • Be available to answer questions during regular working hours
  • Staffing
  • Direct supervision of up to 14 Registered Nurses and 1 LPN in multiple locations, including a Team Leader at one location
    • Coaches, mentors, trains, disciplines staff
    • Meet with staff regularly (no less than bi-monthly)
    • Be available to answer questions and concerns during regular working hours and around the clock
    • Perform all Nurse performance evaluations
    • Oversee daily operations in the Team Leader’s absence or for sites with no team Leader
    • Oversee regularly scheduled department meetings
  • Establish and maintain appropriate staffing levels in the Nursing departments
  • Work with other department managers to cross-cover whenever possible
  • Adjust staffing as warranted by patient volume
  • Facilitate training of all new employees: Utilize the 90-day competency checklist and complete it in the prescribed time
  • Acts as a resource for questions from all Nursing staff regarding equipment, supplies, protocols, etc.
  • Routinely rotates to all locations where IICA staff are providing Nursing services

  • Negotiate bulk purchasing contracts ie: contrast, supplies, medications, controlled substances, etc…
  • Establish ordering guidelines for each location
  • Assist with formulating supply budget annually

  • Oversee quote development and contract terms with vendors ie: education, equipment, upgrades (hardware and software), service

  • Ensure staff are properly trained for use of new equipment
  • Schedule and participate in applications training with vendor representatives and IICA staff
  • Ensure equipment is maintained appropriately
  • Works with Clinical Engineers to diagnose equipment problems/failures and schedules routine maintenance of equipment and notifies facilities coordinator if required
  • Participate in equipment service contract negotiations
  • Establish equipment downtime procedures
  • Ensure proper documentation of service to meet Joint Commission / ACR guidelines
  • Participate in Business Development for Nursing Department

  • Participate in the development and follow through of a 1 – 3 year department plan consistent with IIALLC strategic plans

  • Participate in development of policies and procedures that apply to all departments

  • Act as a liaison to other area hospitals

Registered Nurse Duties

  • Assesses patient needs by phone and in person for appropriateness of procedure/exam and/or sedation by:
    • Obtaining medical history
    • Prior sedation reaction history
    • Current physical condition and review of physiological systems
  • Provides accurate explanation of procedure/exam , pre-procedure/pre-exam instructions, answers questions & addresses concerns of patient and family
  • Adapts assessment, care of treatment and education to age specific requirements
  • Monitors patient during procedure for level of sedation, adverse reactions and responds to changes in patient status
  • Performs parenteral procedures i.e. contrast injections, IV starts and venipuncture for lab specimens
  • Provides guidance as needed to technologist during exams
  • Manages all medication used at Inland Imaging centers:
    • Maintains adequate supply levels
    • Restocks daily and regularly monitors expiration dates on medications
    • Maintains adequate and accurate records of all controlled substances and other medications
    • Maintains security of narcotic keys and locked drug boxes
    • Documents and appropriately charges patient’s for medications and supplies
  • Follows current Washington State Nurse Practice Act for the administration of medications and IV solutions
  • Coordinates tracking of patient data in the appropriate Electronic Medical Record (i.e. EPIC and/or Medicalis)
  • Performs essential duties of job within MRI safety zone
  • Administers TB tests and flu shots and reads TB results for employees
  • Responds to emergency situations
    • First responder for code situation
    • First responder and primary care provider for all contrast reactions
  • This position may be required to work in a hospital, urgent care or clinical setting

  • Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing/Business Management or other related field required.
  • Experience:
    • Three years experience as a working Registered Nurse – required
    • One or more years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a Radiology practice – preferred
    • 3 years of management or supervisory experience – required
    • Anatomy and medical terminology required
    • Medical office experience preferred.
    • Understanding of Radiology procedures to be read by radiologist preferred.
  • Licensure: Must maintain current Washington State Registered Nurse license
  • Certifications:
    • Current ACLS or previously trained in ACLS – required
    • Certification Emergency Nurse Pediatric Certification or Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification – helpful
  • Computer Skills:
    • Experience with the following computer applications is highly desired: MS Office Suite, Outlook; Power Point; Excel; WorkDay; Stentor; Medicalis; Control Center; EPIC; Web Portals
  • Background Check:
    • Must be able to pass a background check required by RCW 43.43.830-840 to work with children under the age of 16, developmentally disabled persons or vulnerable adults
