Description

Seeking an established professional to fill the role of Outreach Director. Position may be located in either Longview, WA or Vancouver, WA.

Summary Working in partnership with volunteer and agency leadership and staff, the outreach director provides vision, leadership and strategic direction for development and marketing in Community’s service delivery area to support the agency’s mission. The director leads the agency’s efforts to develop a strategic, systems-wide approach to fundraising and marketing to allow Community to develop/maintain key community relationships, raise more money, strengthen brand awareness, and expand the agency’s mission through agency growth.

Key responsibility areas include: (1) strategic leadership and planning; (2) supervision of staff; (3) oversight of philanthropic programs; (4) branding and brand awareness (5) constituent relations (donors, volunteers, foundations, businesses, general public). Successful outcomes of this position include: increased visibility, increased funds raised through development, positive public image, coordinated/planned fundraising approach, team orientation to projects, and achievement of strategic plan goals.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Leadership and creativity in the planning, execution, and successful completion of marketing and fundraising programs within the context of organizational goals.
  2. Proven fundraising, negotiation and consensus building skills.
  3. Able to work effectively with donors, professional advisors and volunteers.
  4. Specialized knowledge related to planned giving and major gifts fundraising.
  5. Effective public speaking and written communication skills for dealing with staff, members of the board, volunteers, external organizations and vendors.
  6. Advanced organizational skills to prioritize work with attention to detail and follow-through.
  7. Strong computer, analytical and problem solving skills.
  8. Experience with effective donor research, identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
  9. Timeliness in execution, attention to detail, and positive energy are expected.
  10. Familiarity with agency services and a willingness to become knowledgeable about new service lines.
  11. Demonstrated success in community relations, marketing, and fund development.
  12. Proficient in donor software.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Seven to 10 years of leadership experience; preferably within a nonprofit healthcare setting.
  2. Bachelor’s degree required, additional certification (CFRE) or master’s degree preferred.
  3. Capital campaign experience preferred.
  4. Minimum five years of supervisory experience.
