Reporting to the Enterprise Executive Director, Diversity and Inclusion (with matrix structure to Akron Executive VP & CHRO), the Director, Diversity & Inclusion provides leadership in adopting best practices, as well as developing and implementing strategic initiatives that engage Akron General caregivers and embeds effective diversity and inclusion practices into day-to-day operations, practices, processes and caregiver development. The director will develop and implement strategies for recruitment and retention of leadership and staff, and ensure that business relationships are representative of the communities that Akron General serves; in addition to promoting and providing training in cultural competence.
Masters Degree strongly preferred, or an equivalent combination of experience and education, in business, human resources management, education, diversity management or closely-related field.
Complexity of Work:
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Must be able to relate across all levels of systems and manage multiple projects.
Minimum of five - seven years experience in a diversity leadership or related type of role with at least two years of leadership experience in diversity programs. Proficient in the use of personal computer software applications Healthcare and Supplier Diversity experience (a plus).
