Overview

Full-Time, exempt, 40hr/ week, day shift, plus on call requirement

Cardiothoracic OR experience preferred; OR experience required.

The Heart Center Staff RN assists patients to move rapidly, uneventfully, and as effectively as possible through their surgical encounter while maintaining quality and safety as a priority. Delegates, directs, oversees and provides developmentally appropriate patient care. Practices professional nursing and promotes patient advocacy in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and maintains a current Ohio Nursing License.

Responsibilities

  • Uses nursing process, evidence-based practice, and unit specific competencies
  • Effectively relates and interacts with patient, families, and health care team
  • Maintains professional standards by setting professional goals and participating in activities to meet goals
  • Participates in a CTOR Nursing Shared Governance Model
  • Participates in educational activities
  • Participates in research, patient safety and quality improvement activities
  • Provides direct patient care in the operating room as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Participates in on-call coverage for the Heart Center Operating Room
  • Prepares the Heart Center OR(s) for planned and emergency operations as required
  • May perform in the role of RN First Assistant following successful completion of an accredited first assistant program

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Associated Degree in Nursing required; must obtain BSN within 5 years of start date.

LICENSURE: Licensed as a Register Nurse in the State of Ohio

EXPERIENCE: Cardiothoracic OR experience preferred; OR experience required.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to see, hear, stand, walk, speak, read and perform manual tasks with or without accommodation, and care for oneself with little or no difficulty.
  • Must be able to independently lift up to 25 lbs. frequently.
  • Must be able to move or reposition patients of any weight or size with the assistance of another person(s) and/or equipment.
