Nursing Director

Yakima Neighborhood Health Services (YNHS) a Community Health Center with ten sites in the Yakima Valley, is looking for a GREAT, energetic, and creative Nursing Director to join our organization. YNHS is rich in culture and, for a health professional, rich in opportunities to make a difference in people's lives. YNHS serves many low income and disadvantaged individuals and families, (including agricultural workers and people experiencing homelessness), though everyone in our community is welcome. Because of our commitment and service to reducing barriers to health, YNHS is an eligible site for federal and state health professional loan repayment programs.

Our Nursing Director reports to our Chief Medical Officer, and works closely with all departments in our Integrated Whole Person Team. Examples of responsibilities include:

  • Supervise nurses in accordance with organizational, governmental and other regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate and evaluate nursing activities to assure balanced responsibilities among nurses and coworkers to allow everyone on team to work to the top of their scope.
  • Assist with selection, oversee training/orientation of nursing staff and provide performance evaluation of nursing personnel. This position also oversees infection control training of all clinical positions.
  • Work closely with Chief Medical Officer and Chief Integration Officer to develop efficient workflows for patient care and processing of patient information.
  • Oversees Infection Control policies of the organization. Support and adhere to infection control standards and policies, provide and coordinate Policy and Safety Review, employee immunizations, Blood borne Pathogen training, HIV training, CPR certification and mask fit testing.
  • Stays up to date on Infection Control recommendations and Best Practices through trainings, and literature reviews.
  • Work with other supervisors and administrative staff to address organization-wide issues, including program development, personnel policies, and employee evaluations, training needs, safety concerns and quality assurance indicators. Make recommendations and/or decisions for improvement based on the impact to the organization, rather than any single department.
  • Develop and conduct/coordinate educational programs for staff development.
  • Provide direct patient care as needed.

Minimum Qualifications include a valid WA St RN license, experience in primary care, infection control practices, and work with vulnerable populations. Knowledge of Joint Commission standards helpful.
