The Supportive Care Division provides clinical care and non-clinical services, conducts cutting-edge research, and educates the next generation of a multi-disciplinary group of providers. This position requires a seasoned leader with experience and a vision for further developing Supportive Care Services at SCCA. This position also requires strong leadership and mature judgment to ensure high standards that comply with all regulatory requirements while promoting clinical and support services excellence and workforce resilience.

The Director of Supportive Care is responsible for providing operational leadership, and in partnership with departmental and medical leadership, develop strategic plans and goal setting across the division, representation of the goals and interests of the division to senior leadership and supporting the growth and development of people and programs within the division.

Responsible for providing clinical and operational vision, leadership and oversight for the Supportive Care division in partnership with the operations managers and Medical Directors of the associated programs:

  • Housing & Family Assistance
  • Integrative Medicine
  • Medical Nutrition
  • Pain Clinic
  • Palliative Care Medicine
  • Patient Navigation
  • Psychiatry
  • Retail/DME
  • Rehabilitation Medicine
  • Rehabilitation Therapies
  • Social Work
  • Spiritual Health
  • Volunteer Services

Employees must adhere to all SCCA policies and processes, including the SCCA Code of Conduct and all HIPAA privacy requirements.

Required:

  • Master's degree in Healthcare and/or Leadership-related field of study
  • 7+ years healthcare setting, ideally in oncology services
  • Experience in and passion for delivery of oncology supportive care
  • 5+ years in progressive healthcare leadership roles with previous leadership experience in one of the Supportive Care areas, which could include:
    • Housing & Family Assistance
    • Integrative Medicine
    • Medical Nutrition
    • Pain Clinic
    • Palliative Care Medicine
    • Patient Navigation
    • Physical Therapy
    • Psychiatry
    • Retail/DME
    • Rehabilitation Medicine
    • Rehabilitation Therapies
    • Social Work
    • Spiritual Health
    • Volunteer Services
  • Current Washington State Licensure and/or Certification in their respective specialty in healthcare (if applicable)
  • Experience working in academic healthcare setting, including with or alongside research teams and clinical educators
  • Detail-oriented and data-driven
  • Strong business acumen with a broad understanding of fundamental business principles
  • Analytical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to set division strategy and drive process improvement.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate and build a consensus
  • Strong customer / patient orientation focus
  • Knowledgeable of all policies and procedures that affect the outcomes of patient care, employee rights and responsibilities
  • Knowledgeable of current healthcare environment/regulations and impact to hospital operations
  • Influence organizational diversity; Actively engage internal and external partners to achieve diversity and inclusion objectives and build a climate of inclusion and support within the workforce

SCCA has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy, and there are no exceptions for any employee who is patient-facing and/or requires access to SCCA facilities.

Exceptions exist only for employees whose positions are fully remote, with no required access to campus. As a condition of employment, newly hired employees requiring access to campus must provide proof of vaccination before their first day of employment.
