The Executive Director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion works closely with Vice President-Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) to drive DE&I strategies across the system and scale DE&I initiatives/programs throughout the organization. This leader oversees the day to day of the strategic diversity Program Managers to empower teams providing guidance on strategic initiatives. The Executive Director works collaboratively to support systemwide strategic guidance and leadership to advance diversity and inclusion so that team members and patients can experience a greater sense of belonging and inclusion. The Executive Director understands the root causes of inequities, unconscious biases, and the social determinants of health and has the capacity to educate others who can engage in multiple projects to create conditions for successful systems change across IU Health.

Education, Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree is required. Master's Degree is preferred.
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of experience with specific experience in manager/supervisory roles, diversity, equity & inclusion strategy development, strategic human resources, learning & development, organizational development, executive communications, and stakeholder management.
  • Experience operating in a complex, matrix organization; clinical setting is preferred.
  • Requires knowledge of business applications, project management and financial management.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading the design, development and execution of large-scale diversity & inclusion programs.
  • Highly experienced in coaching and developing diverse groups and all levels of professionals.
